Biography

Tal Goldin serves as Of Counsel to Harshbarger Law Firm, where he collaborates on complex civil litigation, real estate disputes, transactional matters, and select family law cases. He is frequently engaged on matters requiring advanced legal research, strategic motion practice, and appellate-level analysis.

Tal has extensive experience litigating complex civil cases before administrative agencies, Montana state courts, federal district courts, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. His litigation background includes obtaining substantial monetary recoveries and advancing cases that resulted in meaningful systemic reform through federal proceedings. He approaches litigation with disciplined preparation, careful issue preservation, and a strong command of written and oral advocacy.

Early in his career, Tal practiced at a well-established private firm in Missoula, handling family law, real estate, estate and business transactions, and civil litigation. He later held leadership roles in public interest litigation, including co-leading a team of attorneys at Montana Legal Services and currently serving as Director of Advocacy at Montana Disability Rights. These roles require managing complex, multi-party litigation and developing long-term strategic approaches to high-impact cases.

In addition to his litigation practice, Tal has taught Special Education Law, Policy, and Practice at the University of Montana College of Education, served as an adjunct professor at the University of Montana School of Law, and lectured throughout Montana and nationally on litigation and advocacy topics.

Tal is admitted to practice before Montana state and federal courts, Washington state courts, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He is a graduate of the University of Montana School of Law, where he served on the Jessup International Law Moot Court team, and the State University of New York at Purchase (cum laude).

Tal lives in Helena, Montana with his wife and two children. Outside of his legal practice, he enjoys fishing Montana’s rivers, hiking, playing music, and spending time with his family.
